Tec 40 Course Info

If you're interested in technical diving you have a couple of option in where to start.  The HiTek Scuba "tec cross over" program is one option, but if you know for sure that Tec is for you and you want to just jump in, then Tec 40 might be the best choice.  In addition, if your coming from another agency and want to go "tec rec" but haven't yet met the prerequisites for the DSAT Tec 50 course or DSAT Tec 45 course, you can consider enrolling in the DSAT Tec 40 course. This is the FIRST technical certification that PADI offers, so it is the beginning level.  It is the first subdivision of the full DSAT Tec Deep Diver course and consists of the first four dives. During this program the recreational diver will become an entry-level technical diver. The student diver will be introduced to technical diving basics, including technical diving equipment, decompression theory and procedures, and failure resolution techniques and procedures.

You'll learn to

  • Use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with no more than 10 minutes of total decompression and not deeper than 40 meters/130 feet.
  • Carry and use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50 percent oxygen (EANx50) to add conservatism to the required decompression

  • tec diving lingo
