UPDATE:
The results from the 2006 Annual Down the River Clean Up on the Clackamas are in! 280 volunteers hauled out 5.27 tons of detritus! That's 10,540 pounds!! A busy day for the volunteers.

Come out and help us clean up the Clackamas, at the 5th Annual Clackamas River Cleanup, September 9th 2007.  This event is a huge group effort combining HiTek Scuba Divers, the local kayaking community, the drift boaters association, and rafters from all over.

Last year the combined efforts of the group pulled over 4,000 pounds of garbage out of the Clackamas river.  The trash in the above picture was just from one group of divers...WOW!

If you are interested, and are a certified diver with either at least 25 logged river dives, OR are certified to Rescue Diver or above, call to reserve your spot.

Rafts and raft guides are provided, as well as a Free BBQ dinner to all participants at the end of the event.

Come out and meet the divers of the Clackamas County Marine Sheriff's Division, they will be taking part in the event as always, helping to ensure a safe day on the river.  The river team of paramedics from American Medical Response (AMR) will be on hand as well, just in case.

Call 503-886-9161 if you meet the criteria, and are interested in participating.
